SUCCESS
As the scholastic fall sports team starts in earnest, it is interesting to take note that some of the same schools and coaches are successful in certain sports year after year.
In order to be successful, coaches and teams must be disciplined and work together as a team for the purpose of benefiting the team and school as a whole. Offseason work, especially for those who are not competing in another sports, has also become a necessity in most sports.
This includes regular weightlifting in most sports to build strength and running to enhance endurance.
Schools that have strong feeder programs from early youth ages up through high school also seem to be strong each year.
It takes commitment and dedication to become successful at any sporting endeavor.
Most coaches do not hang around as long as they used to because of various reasons, including families, parental interference and lack of overall backing. But the better coaches seem to know how to handle those variables the best and are willing to sacrifice a lot for the sake of the student-athletes, the teams and their respective schools.
