Craig Clerk to pitch against the Reading Phils
Left-handed pitcher Craig Clark, an Oaks resident, will be pitching against the Reading Phillies for the Richmond Flying Squirrels in Class AA Eastern League baseball this weekend at FirstEngergy Stadium in Reading, Pa.
Clark is a graduate of Spring-Ford High School and the Spring City American Legion baseball programs as well as a Penn State University graduate who competed in the Big 10 Conference. Clark is slated to pitch the first game of a three-game set Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
Richmond is a new team playing in a renovated ballpark this year that was the former home of the Class AAA Richmond Braves. The Flying Squirrels are affiliated with the San Francisco Giants franchise in Major League Baseball.
Clark, a 6-2, 200-pounder, spent time in the Giants’ major league training camp in Scottsdale, Arizona, before being assigned to Richmond.
Clark spent his first three seasons in the minor leagues with Salem, Oregon; Augusta, Georgia; and San Jose, California.
Clark was recently married three months ago. His wife, Colleen, is a teacher in the Plymouth-Whitemarsh School District. She will be joining him in Richmond when school lets out in June.
Clark and the Flying Squirrels will also be in Reading from May 21-23 as well as June 11-14.
